Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people heal from trauma, distressing experiences, and negative self-beliefs. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR helps the brain reprocess memories so they no longer feel as painful or “stuck.”
Think of it like digestion—your body takes what it needs and gets rid of what it doesn’t. When something really stressful happens, the brain can’t “digest” it properly, and it gets stuck. EMDR helps you process that stuck memory so it no longer causes discomfort.
Using gentle eye movements, tapping, or sounds, EMDR activates both sides of the brain to reprocess memories and link them to more adaptive thoughts and emotions. The memory remains, but the distress fades. My role is to guide and support you through the process, helping you stay grounded and safe while your brain does the healing work.
